NOTE PLEASE: Readers are to test the remedies given at their own risk.

Glowing skin is the owner’s pride and the neighbor’s envy. And we now bring to you effortless ways to get this radiant and healthy skin at home and costing hardly anything.

CAUSES:
There are a couple of things that cause the skin to get dull, dead and spotted. Avoid these, and you can have a lasting glow on your face. Avoid an unhealthy routine: walk or exercise daily (it stimulates blood flow throughout the body and keeps skin fresh); take proper meals at proper times and say no to all junk foods; eat lots and lots of fresh fruits and vegetable (they contain vitamins vital for health) and lastly drink loads and loads of water; this removes all the anti oxidants from the body (about eight to ten glasses daily). Moreover, avoid smoking and other such unhealthy habits. Reduce make up to the minimum possible and even if you do use it make sure it’s good quality and not harsh on the skin. Ensure you properly cleanse and moisturize your skin regularly, it’s important that the skin remains clean and the dead cells are removed.

REMEDIES:
Whenever treating the skin, always give priority to natural ingredients for even though market products may be good but they contain one or the other chemical which you must avoid to the maximum possible. However, you must ensure beforehand that you are not allergic to any of the ingredient that you are using.

Here are some home remedies that can lighten your skin providing the much required glow:

Gram flour and Milk: Take about 3 table spoon of gram flour and add enough milk to make a thick paste (when using this in summers, try using chilled milk; it gives a very soothing effect). Then add about a half tea spoon of lemon juice. Apply to the face and once it dries, wash off. This is safe to do daily.

Sandal Wood: a paste of red sandal wood can brighten skin instantly. This can be used daily.

Curry Leaves and Fuller’s Earth: take one teaspoon of dried curry leaves and make a fine paste with fuller’s earth. Apply to the skin and wash with normal water when completely dry. This remedy helps remove blemishes and can be used regularly.

Oats and Yoghurt: mix oats, yoghurt and honey in 2:2:1 ratio along with some powdered almonds to make a paste. Apply on the face and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Tomatoes and Lime: take a finely mashed potato and add about 2 to 3 drops of lime juice to it. Apply and leave for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then rinse off with cold water. You will notice an instant sheen. This can be done twice a week. A variation to this may be rubbing a slice of tomato (refrigerated) on the face in circles when you get back home on a hot day.

Sugar and Lemon: take equal amounts of sugar granules and powdered lemon peels and add some milk to make a paste. Apply and leave till it dries. Then wash off.

Rose Water and Glycerin: make a lotion of glycerin, rose water and lemon juice. Apply to the face before going to bed daily. This will lighten complexion and make the skin look radiant. This can be applied to the hands, arms and feet as well.
